Did you know that famous music artists such as Thom Yorke and Bjrk are fans of the mugham genre ? If you listen to their music, you will hear a direct influence.

Both of them have mentioned Alim Qasmov in various interviews in past. Bjrk considers him as one of her favourites in a musical world.

Gallants visit to Azerbaijan underlines Iranian threat to regional security - I24NEWS r/Azrbaycan

Gallants visit to Azerbaijan underlines Iranian threat to regional security - I24NEWS

For example, the Azerbaijani military published footage of a training exercise targeting small flying targets meant to simulate the infamous Iranian loitering munition, the Shahed-136, thousands of which were sold to Russia and are being used to bombard Ukraine. This is the first documented drill of its kind by Azerbaijani forces, and it could not come at a more opportune moment.

During several of the recent clashes on the Azeri-Armenian border, the Armenian side used the Shaheds against Azerbaijani positions. It is not outlandish to presume that Israel, being on the forefront of anti-missile and anti-drone technology production, has something up its sleeve to assist its major strategic partner.

Hi r/azerbaijan! We are currently on a road trip to China and were planning on driving through your beautiful country.

We are currently wondering if it is possible to cross into Azerbaijan via the Georgia border crossing, as we only find conflicting information online (mainly due to corona).

Does anyone know if this is possible? Many thanks in advance :)

Are there any Midjourney users or anybody involved with AI? r/Azrbaycan

Hello, everyone. I write this post in English so all the members of this sub can take part if wanted. I am rather interested in AI nowadays, since I believe it's something that will only get bigger in the next years. I was just curious about members who are actively using it and for which purposes. I am looking for any job opportunities related to this field, and would like to find out how advanced it is in Azerbaijan. Thanks in advance!

What is behind the current tension in Turkish-Iranian relations? "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Alexandr Svaranc New Eastern Outlook 16.07.2023

Turkey and Iran continue to be important Middle Eastern nations. Due to their geographical proximity, imperial past, violent rivalry, theological tensions (between Sunnism and Shiism), and, of course, the continuous divergence of geopolitical interests, both nations have a rich history of relations.

There were multiple Turkish-Persian clashes and wars, with various interruptions and varying degrees of success, during the Ottoman and Persian empires. Regarding the significance of the harem in the Ottoman Empire, historians have observed that, unlike the Turkish-Persian conflicts, which occasionally came to an end during periods of truce, the harem wars continued unabatedly. The reasons for these wars were varied, with religion often becoming a justification for the ambitions of Istanbul or Tehran. As a rule, it was a struggle for the right to own border territories from the Caucasus to Asia Minor, for the right to control strategic trade and military communications (for example, the area between Tigris and Euphrates, Eastern or Western Armenia and Syria).

In fact, s...

I need advice for 1 day in Baku r/Azrbaycan

Hi,

Ill spend one full day in Baku in late august (its a flight stop-over).

Ill get an eVisa in order to be allowed to enter Azerbaijan.

Is it possible to leave my cabin suitcase somewhere at the airport? Or is it better to book a cheap hotel room just to store the luggage for 12-15 hours until I return to the airport?

I plan to visit the old city and the city center.

Any suggestion will be very appreciated.

Thanks

Travel from Baku to Tbilisi r/Azrbaycan

Hi all, Ill be backpacking Azerbaijan and Georgia soon. I wanted to check whether the land border is open to tourists. I did check some online forums but nothing was quite clear.

From my understanding, there are trains running from Baku to Tbilisi but there are some border restrictions.

Can anyone please confirm?

In June, the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network published its Sustainable Development Report 2023, which tracks the progress of the 193 member states towards attaining the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From 2015 to 2019, the network wrote, the world made some progress on the SDGs, although this was already vastly insufficient to achieve the goals. Since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020 and other simultaneous crises, SDG progress has stalled globally. This development agenda was adopted in 2015, with targets intended to be met by 2030. However, halfway to this deadline, the report noted that all of the SDGs are seriously off track. Why are the UN member states unable to meet their SDG commitments? At their core, the network said, the SDGs are an investment age...

What has happened with TYT? "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

It used to be that The Young Turks was a progressive voice, though a problematic one, given the sexism and Armenian genocide denial by Cenk Uygur in the past.  Lately, however, many are asking what has happened to them. Both Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur has made anti-trans remarks, and Ana has come strongly out against the homeless.

This has led to 10 of the moderators of The Young Turks youtube channel to resign they have written an open resignation letter.
