The people who have all the money have no art "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

I have fond memories of taking my newly wed wife on a date to see Raiders of the Lost Ark at the theater in downtown Eugene, back in the day. I also have fond memories of putting my toddler son Alaric in a little red wagon and trundling him over the Willamette River pedestrian bridge to the Valley River Center mall to see the next Indiana Jones movieand also the Star War with all the Ewoks in it. These were movies made for entertaining fun, and were the background of my young adulthood. I think they also made my kids happy.

This past week, the latest Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, is playing here in Morris, and itll probably be playing next week as well. I havent felt even the most subtle stirrings of sentimentality to motivate me to go. The movie studios have milked me dry.

Also playing: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. I hope the theater is cleaning up its a co-op, and Im a member, but here I am, a guy who loves going to the movies, and Im not at all interested. Ive even got a free ticket tacked to the refrigerator, and the impulse just isnt there any more.

One reason is that Im aware that Indiana Jones is a terrible role model and a very bad scientist built on colonialist preconceptions, part of trope that has been thriving since H. Rider Haggard and Edgar Rice Burroughs.

The basic outlines of the adventure genre will be familiar to Indy fans, though its structure is heavily beholden to the colonialist politics of Haggards era: A brilliant White man, very often a professor, deploys personal reserves of cleverness, resilience and unrelenting determination in the service of exploration, discovery and resource extraction. That narrative template guides these stories even when the author attempts to push back on their ideological implications. Think, for example, about how the Indiana Jones films use the Nazi menace to distract from the fact that our hero is almost always appropriating the treasures of Indigenous or pre-colonial peoples. Its as if they felt obliged to remind us that theres always a worse White man, as a sort of alibi. It makes perfect sense, from this perspective, that Indiana Joness least-successful films are the ones that, like Temple of Doom, leave the Nazis out.

That contributes to my lack of interest, for sure. I feel a little bit guilty for enjoying a tale of a swashbuckling college professor fighting Nazis and also, unfortunately, looting non-white peoples history. Unfortunately, the pleasure part of guilty pleasure started to fizzle out as I also realized that every single movie is centered on garbage pseudoscience/pseudoarchaeology the Ark of the Covenant with its vengeful ghosts, an evil Hindu priest...

The historic hailstorm in Valencia yesterday, with ice stones the size of nuts, had a strong impact on a large area of crops in numerous areas of the provinces of Valencia and Castellon. According to an initial estimate made by the Valencian Association of Farmers (AVA-ASAJA), "the hailstorm affected more than 20,000 hectares of agricultural land. Chuck Norris: 7 Little-Known Facts About the Declaration of Independence "IndyWatch Feed World"

This is never spoken off in the histories i have read, but the mere fact that a leading citizen like Franklin was reacting to military atrocities happening long before an outbreak of armed conflict.

In fact, the british crown had embarked on a program of coercion after the Tea Party two years earlier.  So of course atrocities abounded and leading citizens got incensed.  And the crown having difficulties collecting taxes was a traditional state of affairs.  Military coercion was not after the English Civil War.

So of course they revolted, then did the numbers and decided to give it a go.

At least the Brits took their lesson and then applied it to their expanding empire.  yet they could have ended the salt tax in India.

It is compelling that an anti slavery diatribe was in the draft.  Opinion was so against the instituion which actually makes ample sense since thae majority everywhere did not even participate and certainly not in New England.  Reading the Bible was paying off.

BRICS to Replace the Dollar? "IndyWatch Feed World"

The goldbugs cling to everything they can to promote gold at the destruction of the dollar. They are pushing the idea that China, Russia, and other BRICS countries are developing a dollar alternative. The truth of the matter is that is more fiction. Even Indias foreign minister S. Jaishankar came out and said, There is no idea of a BRICS currency. Foreign minister S. Jaishankar made it clear that the five-member BRICS group consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa isnt currently planning to develop a greenback substitute for trade and investments.  On what we will discuss at the BRICS meeting, well have to see because there are many other issues  but there is no idea of a BRICS currency, he said, as shown by footage from the Hindustan Times.

To even attempt to do something is absurd to create a BRICS currency like the euro would doom their economies. The #1 market remains the American consumer, and to price things in some alternative currency would undermine their own economies. People need to understand currency.

Mike Pence, Other Prominent Hawks Back Regime Change in Iran at MEK Rally in Paris "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Connor Freeman | The Libertarian Institute | July 3, 2023

Former Vice President Mike Pence participated in a rally outside Paris led by the exiled Iranian terrorist cult, the Marxist-Islamist Mujahideen-e-Khalq headed by Maryam Rajavi, and their political front the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), over the weekend.

Pence, a current GOP presidential hopeful, along with a host of other prominent hawks, including British ex-Prime Minister Liz Truss as well as former CIA director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, made calls for regime change in Tehran and railed against engagement with the Islamic Republic. Pence said One of the biggest lies the ruling regime has sold to the world is that there is no alternative. He added no oppressive regime can last forever.

Truss declared [authoritarian] regimes have been emboldened as the free world has not done enough. I will never give up hope for a free and democratic Iran Democracy is under threat around the world. Now is the time to turn our backs on accommodation and appeasement.

Pompeo chimed in via video link, proclaiming any deal with Iran over its nuclear energy program would be a calamity for the Iranian people and the world. Per the NCRI, also in attendance at the event were former NATO Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark and erstwhile US Senator Joseph Lieberman.

These condemnations of diplomacy come as the White House is reportedly making some efforts to de-escalate tensions with Iran in an attempt to secure an interim nuclear deal. The new understanding could see Iran cap its enrichment of uranium at 60% purity in exchange for some limited sanctions relief.

Tehran has previously pledged not to enrich beyond this upper limit, which is still well below the 90% required for weapons-grade uranium. Iran too...

57 people died in encounters with elephants in last 3 months across the Indian state of Odisha - 50% increase over same the period in 2022 "IndyWatch Feed World"

Odisha has seen a 50% increase jump in human casualties in encounters with wild elephants in the first three months of 2023-24, with 57 deaths compared to 38 deaths in the same period last year. This year's April, May and June, when human-elephant encounters are typically at their peak with the pachyderms raiding mango, bael and jackfruit orchards, have been the most lethal in past 10 years. The quarter also saw a 26% rise in the number of human-elephant encounters, which resulted in more injuries than ever before. Asian elephants are attracted to food crops because they are more palatable, more nutritious and have lower secondary defences than wild plants, wildlife expert Biswajit Mohanty said. Crop damage by elephants is the root cause of human-elephant conflicts across states, he added.

Pakistan has arrested five nationals for working in Israel over suspicions that they illegally migrated to the country.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested five out of eight suspects wanted for violating the Passport Act 1974 and the Emigration Ordinance 1979.

Pakistani passports specifically state that citizens may not travel to Israel.

The suspects were working as helpers and car washers in Tel Aviv, Abdul Ghafoor, an FIA spokesperson, told Arab News.

They stayed in Tel Aviv for four to seven years.

He added the men had entered Israel through Jordan on a European visa, with the help of an Israeli agent.

They said the investigation had tracked remittence payments made to Pakistan.

Pakistan and Israel have never had official relations and successive Pakistani government have repeatedly said there would be no recognition of Israel without resolution of the Palestinian situation.

However, the two countries have maintained discreet unofficial ties for many decades, with a British government report in 2013 suggesting Israel...

How the Spanish-American War Changed World History "IndyWatch Feed World"

This is a useful item, considering how hte whole episode has been deeply downplayed vever since.  i certainly ignored it all and mostly saw it all as an abberation until you unde5rstyand that there was a clear stategic vision at work which then made all else possible.

even hawaii was part of this mix.  in fact this whole shameful episode was colony acquisition by another name at a time when everyone was into it.  so no need to suggest original thinking here but simple opportunism encouraged by someone possibly.  Was teddy really that smart?

The spanish were the helpless victims of all this and ultimately so were the philipine people.  Let us forget all that.

It is curious that my pursuit of Pilar led me back to this narritive a year or so ago. I am still waiting for Pilar.  The Spanish Civl War led there as well as this war and then to Hemmingway and his fishing boat. And i was given this name by an incarnation of a known hindu warrior.  So i need to wait.

Iran joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on Tuesday, a move that will see the country further strengthen its trade ties with China, Russia, India and other Asian states.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi told a meeting of the group on Tuesday that he hoped his country's entry would "provide a platform for collective security, lead to sustainable development, expand links and communications, strengthen unity, respect the sovereignty of countries more than ever before, and provide synergies to deal with environmental threats."

The SCO encompasses huge swathes of the planet, and includes around half the world's population when including non-members observers and "dialogue partners".

Iran is keen to reduce its longstanding isolation from the world economy, a result of US sanctions, and joining the SCO is likely aimed at facilitating this.

'Ready for the future?'

Iran's entry into the SCO - which has its headquarters in China - leaves the diplomatic organisation with nine full members, the others being China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

How the Billionaires Control U.S.-and-Allied Governments "IndyWatch Feed World"

In virtually every country thats allied with the U.S. Government against Russia and against China, there is a low public job-approval-rating for its head-of-state and for its Government, and a rating that is far lower than is the public job-approval for the leaders of the countries that the U.S. gang are trying to regime-change. If a given nations leaders net public job-approval rating (% who approve, minus the % who disapprove) is above 0%, or positive, then that is an indication the nations Government is a democracy, because then that leader is satisfying his public (including his political opposition not merely his own voters) more than dissatisfying it that leader actually DOES represent his nation. However, if the net job-approval rating is below 0%, or negative, its likelier a dictatorship than a democracy (and then the question is: whom does that leader actually serve?).

Every week the Morning Consult polling organization scientifically samples public opinion in 22 countries regarding Approve/Disapprove on the given nations leader, including all of the U.S. Governments allies plus five nations that are on friendly terms with the U.S. Government but not lockstep followers of it: the latter 5 being India, Switzerland, Mexico, Australia, and Brazil. All of the other 17 Governments (which includes Americas own Government) are rabidly hostile toward both of the U.S.-designated top enemy nations, which are China and Russia. So: the Morning Consult pollings include the 17 U.S.-and-allied countries, plus 5 nations that are in some way on the fence between the U.S. Government and its designated top enemies i.e., Americas targets to be conquered.

Here is the complete rank-order list of the 22 sampled countries along with the net job-performance rating of its leader by its public as per the 29 June 2023 posting:
