US, Israel defense ministers discuss anti-Iran alliance "IndyWatch Feed War"

The Cradle | June 16, 2023

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant met with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on 15 June at the NATO summit in Brussels to discuss Iran and other important aspects of the US-Israel relationship, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Gallant discussed with Austin his claims that Iran stimulates attacks against Israel using proxies in Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank, and reiterated Israels right to self-defense, the Israeli paper said.

Before departing for Belgium, Gallant said he would discuss with Austin the implementation of the joint commitment of both our countries to make sure Iran will never possess nuclear military capabilities.

Israeli threats against Iran have intensified in recent months amid unconfirmed reports that Washington is close to reaching an interim or partial nuclear deal with Tehran through indirect talks in Oman.

Israel opposes a US nuclear deal with Iran, while Iranian officials have made clear they will only accept a full return to the nuclear deal signed with the Obama administration in 2015. The Trump administration withdrew from the deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), unilaterally in 2018. The JCPOA placed limits on Irans nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

Despite US negotiations with Iran, the US military has expanded military cooperation with Israel this year and carried out exercises viewed as veiled threats against Iran, such as the Juniper Oak exercise in January.

The exercise involved 7,900 personnel, 142 combat aircraft, twelve warships, and activities across all domains (sea, air, land, space, and cyber). The main goals of the exercise were to improve interoperability and to demonstrate the ability to surge forces into the region in the event of war with Iran.

Reports emerged that the exercise simulated strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, though US officials denied this.

In March, Austin met with Gallant in Israel. At the time, Austin said that although the Biden administration continues to believe in diplomacy, it would not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.

Despite ongoing political differences between the Biden administration and the Israeli government regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus proposed l...

Congressman Michael McCaul arrives at a caucus meeting with House Republicans on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, on 10 May 2023 (AFP)

The Biden administration must submit any arrangement or understanding with Iran to Congress for review or risk breaching US law, the Republican chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee said in a letter to the White House.

In a letter dated 15 June, Congressman Michael McCaul said he was disturbed by reports that the US was in proximity talks with Iran which involved the greenlighting of sizable payments to the Islamic Republic.

This calls into question your Administrations intent to follow the law and submit any agreement with Iran to Congress, as required by the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015, he wrote.

Middle East Eye first reported that Iran and the US were nearing a temporary deal to swap some sanctions relief for reducing Iranian uranium enrichment activities.

Two sources with direct knowledge of the talks told MEE that talks had made significant headway and the two sides' negotiators had reached an agreement on a temporary deal to take to their respective superiors.

The Arab-Iranian Dialogue as a prerequisite of these countries entry into the BRICS "IndyWatch Feed Asia"

The Arab-Iranian Dialogue

A three-day informal Arab-Iranian Dialogue has just taken place in Doha (Qatar). The conference, mostly held behind closed doors, acquired special significance because it took place shortly after events showing that the world may be ready to turn a new page in its history.  First, the top leadership of both countries Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud and the Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei not only positively perceived the idea of Russian President Vladimir Putin to create a multipolar world, but are also actively implementing this plan. Second, both leaders vigorously advocate limiting the overwhelming and negative role of the United States in the entire Gulf region.

The Iranian participants included former officials and high-ranking representatives of universities and semi-official institutions. They offered different points of view on Tehrans regional policy. The majority expressed a new desire for interaction, reconciliation and cooperation. For the first time, they agreed to the idea of holding negotiations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Irans nuclear program. They showed flexibility on some regional issues, which was even more evident during the negotiations on the sidelines of the main event.

It should be recalled that the relations of the Arab world with Iran were complicated during the era of Mohammad Reza Shah, and especially after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran. Since then, Tehran has been paying increased attention to its foreign policy and spreading the ideas of the Islamic Revolution in neighboring countries, especially the Arab world. Harsh, unjustified sanctions by the United States and European countries forced the Iranian leadership to militarize the Iranian economy in order to protect the countrys sovereignty, which led to the impoverishment of its people and brought the once prosperous country to the brink of collapse. But Tehran has successfully overcome all the obstacles of the Western world on its way to sovereignty and is following the path of protecting the Iranian...

Tehran to support Caracas oil production

Iran's oil minister says Iran is set to help Venezuela expand oil production with new bilateral agreements signed amid President Ebrahim Raisi's visit to the country.

On Tuesday, the IRNA news agency quoted the minister, Jawad Owji, as saying that Iran would invest in expanding oil fields and developing oil terminals in Venezuela as part of the deals.

Owji said Iran has exported more than 2.8 million technical parts for refineries to its Latin American ally since Raisi took office in 2021.

[Collaborating] in the petrochemical industry is now on our agenda, as Venezuela can produce 12 million tons of ammonia, urea and polyethylene, he added.

Venezuela has one of the largest oil reserves in the world, but as a result of US sanctions, it has been unable to renovate oil industry infrastructure and has been hit by severe petrol shortages in recent years.

Killing the Story: Bakhmut, Nick Cohen, Kakhovka, Nord Stream, and Piers Morgan "IndyWatch Feed War"

The late writer, broadcaster and wit Clive James formulated what he called the Barry Manilow Law:

Everyone you know thinks Barry Manilow is absolutely terrible. But everyone you dont know thinks hes great. (James, cited Martin Amis, Inside Story, Vintage, 2020, e-book, p.74)

Everyone you know thinks BBC News is absolutely terrible. But everyone you dont know thinks its great.

The BBC wasnt always quite this bad. When we started out in 2001, people like Director of News Richard Sambrook and Newsnight editor Peter Barron sent us long, respectful replies to our analysis. We were invited to appear on BBC One, BBC Two and BBC radio (we were interviewed by BBC Radio Five Live). Barron even blogged about us positively on the BBC website.

All of this has gone. Our criticisms, now, are met with paranoid silence. And there is much for BBC journalists to be paranoid about, for they are now clearly operating as de facto agents of state.

When the US targeted Syria for regime change in 2011, a flood of anti-Assad atrocity claims and pro-rebel propaganda washed across the BBCs news pages. The BBCs campaign ended the moment the US campaign for regime change ended. When Iran, Venezuela and Libya fell under the US crosshairs, the same BBC propaganda machine cranked into action. Similarly, anyone measuring BBC performance 2022-2023, will find hundreds of reports and comment pieces country is technically not at war with Russia certainly Russia is not attacking us. It couldnt be more obvious that when the green light for war and regime change is on, the BBC is expected to host daily propaganda pieces to generate public support.

Taliban Border Clashes With Neighboring States Of Afghanistan (Map Update)

Originally published by IslamicWorldNews

Since the onset of Talibans takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, the Taliban-affiliated militants have conducted 26 clashes with Afghanistan neighbors. The armed conflicts have resulted in the death and injury of dozens of civilians as well as border guards from Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other neighboring countries.

The main root cause of the Talibans border clashes with Afghanistans neighbors is that the Taliban militants possess insufficient know-how regarding international border laws and regulations. More importantly, the Taliban rulers do not make any effort to prevent tensions with their neighbor states!

Afghanistan is a landlocked country, which does not have any access to free waters. And the prelude to the establishment of stability and security in such a region is cooperation with neighboring states in order to create appropriate condition for economic and political growth along with issues such as security and stability.

Unfortunately, following five decades of conflict and bloodshed in Afghanistan, the country is still involved in ethnic clashes as well as pursuit of self-interest by powerful individuals and one-dimensional governments. Hence, it can be predicted that the war-torn...

The United States has said it wants Iran to take steps to de-escalate tensions, including steps to curb its nuclear programme and cease actions that destabilise the region, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters on Thursday.

The spokesperson added that the US continues to use diplomatic engagements to pursue goals with Iran in coordination with allies and partners, but said that Washington denies any reports that a deal with Tehran is imminent.

"We want Iran to take steps to de-escalate tensions, which of course includes steps to curb its nuclear programme," Miller said.

"As I said yesterday, with respect to Iran's nuclear programme, there is no deal. The reports that there is a deal or some agreement or some other description, however you want to describe it, are not true."

He added that the US wants Iran to "release Americans who continue to be wrongfully detained".

American Politics: It Will Get Worse Before It Gets Better "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

FATE OF THE REPUBLIC

Editors Note: WhoWhatWhy has asked a select group of experts and observers to weigh in on where America is at and where it may be headed with regard to the health and function of its democracy. This essay, the first of our series, presents the views of John Zogby, who has been a prominent pollster with his finger on the nations cultural and political pulses since 1984.

The threats to democracy worldwide are very real and not to be dismissed. In addition to enabling more formal alliances among autocratic powers like China, Russia, and Iran, there has been an ascendancy of ultra-right regimes and parties in places as diverse as Italy, Turkey, Hungary, Sweden, India, Israel, and France. Even Tennessee, for that matter.

This provides a global context for the dangers the United States faces with Trumpism. There is less of a cushion for the supporters of democratic institutions and governance to rely upon and, in turn, the US no longer can represent itself as a governance role model to others.

This threat is not new. Following the disputed US election of 2000, Zogby International was commissioned to conduct a poll by Reuters. We asked those who had voted for George W. Bush and Al Gore how they would feel if the other side were declared the winner. The results 23 years ago were stunning. Among Gore supporters, 47 percent acknowledged that Bush would be the legitimately elected president, while 30 percent felt the election would be stolen. On the other hand, among Bush voters, only 21 percent said Gore would be legitimate.

Lets understand this fully. Our findings did not merely suggest opposition or dislike, these voters were saying that they would not accept the results of the election. Notable, as well, was the strong partisan differential: Bush voters were significantly less accepting. It was an actual challenge to our democracy. And it was a precursor to the very position we find ourselves in now.

There are broader reasons for this. Culturally, we appear to be hopelessly split, no longer the national community desired by James Madison and other Founding Fathers. In a December 2003 poll, Zogby International asked a series of questions about hot-button issues as well as values and behaviors.

Splitting American voters into red-state Bush voters and blue-state Gore voters, we discovered that the red-state voters were far more likely to consider abortion to be a form of manslaughter, while the bl......

Asian central banks to ditch SWIFT, adopt Iran's alternative as de-dollarization accelerates "IndyWatch Feed World"

In the latest shot fired in the growing rebellion against US dollar dominance, the nine-nation Asian Clearing Union (ACU) has agreed to use Iran's financial messaging system as an alternative to the dollar-denominated SWIFT system that has long served as the globe's financial nervous system. "The secretary general of the Asian Clearing Union (ACU) says Iran's financial messaging system SEPAM will replace SWIFT, a dollar-based international system, in trade exchanges between ACU members beginning next month," Iran's IRNA News Agency reported. At a Tehran summit in May, ACU members agreed to establish a SWIFT alternative within a month. The adoption of Iran's SEPAM will be an interim measure, as the ACU will develop its own messaging system over the next several months. Established in 1974, the ACU now comprises the central banks of India, Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. Belarus and Mauritius applied for ACU membership at the May summit...

US sends more fighter jets to its Middle East "IndyWatch Feed War"

RT | June 15, 2023

The US military has sent additional fighter jets to the Middle East after accusing Russia of increasingly unsafe aircraft activity in the region, including during several incidents in Syria.

F-22 Raptors with the 94th Fighter Squadron have been deployed from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, according to Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees US military operations in the Middle East, Central Asia and parts of Africa.

The decision was part of a multifaceted show of US support and capability in the wake of increasingly unsafe and unprofessional behavior by Russian aircraft, CENTCOM said in a press release on Wednesday.

Pentagon officials have accused Moscow of reckless flights over US bases in Syria in recent weeks, with CENTCOM chief General Erik Kurilla claiming there has been a significant spike in provocative actions since March.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal in April, Air Force Lieutenant General Alexus Grynkewich warned that the rise in tensions could lead to a miscalculation among Russian and American pilots operating in Syria, stating there were 60 separate incidents between March and April alone.

Moscow has similarly accused Washington of unprofessional behavior in Syria. Last month, Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, said American warplanes continued to commit gross violations of deconfliction protocols.

US Air Force pilots continue to activate weapons systems when approaching in the air with Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft performing planned flights in eastern Syria, the official added.

The US currently maintains about 900 ground troops in Syria and operates a network of air bases around the region. The new aircraft deployment also comes after CENTCOM said it would strengthen the US defense posture in the Middle East with additional naval assets, vowing to carry out heightened patrols in the Persian Gulf in response to destabilizing actions by Tehran.

Schumer has about the same currency as an ugly Kardashian. By my standards, there are no beautiful Kardashians because I measure a womans beauty by the presence of The Qualities of The Divine in her. Schumers account is way overdrawn. She has zero talent that I have ever seen and looks like Lady Nature got even with her for some previous egregious offense, BUT she insists on The World paying homage to something she doesnt possess.

I swear somehow life gets even with all of us.

Ive looked into the Trump situation the legal end of it and theres no way they are even allowed to do what they are doing, and yet they continue to do it. This is all down to Merrick Garland and the moneymen who are his puppeteers. Anyone who names their kid Merrick is creating an ambulatory bag of resentments with a hard-on for the future where he gets hoisted on his own petard.

I no longer have much sympathy for Trump. Right off, I didnt trust him. Then I thought he was the best fit for the country and then? He got on The Killer Vaccine slay ride. His vanity seems to override his reason or else hes the other side of a tandem that plays the people caught in between.

I could be wrong about many things. Im not wrong about his support for The Killer Vaccines. I still continued to cut him slack because there was a chance for him to do a turn-around when the truth came out about The Killer Vaccines. He didnt. He didnt do a turn-around.

US military presence there has morphed into a low-level forever war as Bashar al-Assad rejoins regional fold

The US said on Wednesday it was sending F-22 fighter jets to Syria to counter threats from Russia, underlining how a military mission that started with the aim of combating the Islamic State militant (IS) group has turned into a wider geopolitical scramble.

As the Syrian conflict has progressed, Washington's rivals, Iran and Russia, have entrenched themselves in Syria - at a time when Bashar al-Assad is regaining friends in the region.

US troops arrived in northeast Syria in 2015 as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. Working alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-majority militia, they pushed back IS after it swept through vast swathes of Syria and neighbouring Iraq. The so-called "caliphate" was territorially defeated in 2019.

Militarily, the US mission continues to be a success.

During Ramadan this year, IS managed just 19 attacks in Syria, a 37 percent decrease from the same period last year and 70 percent less compared to 2020, according to the US-led coalition.
